Thanksgiving Eve...

It's the night before Thanksgiving, and as I write this I realize that tomorrow will be business as usual. I think that's one of the most difficult things about living in a foreign country--not celebrating national holidays of one's home country on the day, or in the way, tone is used to celebrating them. After years of being away from family over the holidays (this will be my 4th Christmas in the past 6 years), you'd think I'd be used to it. But honestly, I'm not.

One thing that is has made me realize is how lucky I am to have my family. The love, support, and guidance from my amazing parents. And I guess I should say from my brother and sister as well. All families have their ups and downs, but I really do believe that each of us is placed with our families for a reason. We are meant to be together, and I'm so grateful for the knowledge that I have that families can be together forever.

So, even though I may not be with my family this Thanksgiving (and helping my little sis celebrate her 20th birthday) there will hopefully be many holidays, birthdays, and many other celebrations in the future to cherish like the one's I already do.
